URAC Accredits Schaller Anderson Behavioral Health Again

Date Released: 4/10/07

Schaller Anderson Behavioral Health has received URAC (Utilization Review Accreditation Commission) accreditation for its health utilization management standards. Following a lengthy review process, URAC accreditation for Schaller Anderson Behavioral Health became official in March and is effective until April 1, 2009.

URAC is an independent, non-profit organization well-known as a leader in promoting behavioral health care quality through its accreditation and certification programs. To consumers, URAC represents the quality they receive from an organization. The URAC seal lets employers know that an organization operates efficiently and effectively. Most states and federal agencies recognize the URAC seal as a testament to the significant achievements met by health care organizations.

"In the commercial health care industry, URAC is one of the key external certification processes and credentials that shows customers we know what we're doing," said Dr. Jim Johnson, SAH chief operations officer.

Schaller Anderson Behavioral Health underwent a three-phase review process to earn the URAC accreditation. The first part included paperwork and a desk audit. Second, URAC personnel conducted a site visit, which required no corrective actions. Lastly, the company's application was reviewed by the URAC accreditation committee.

"We received this accreditation because of the tireless efforts of the care managers and care manager technicians in Call Center Operations," said Chuck Gaster, SAH director of Quality Improvement.

The company will use the URAC seal in its marketing efforts, state of Arizona insurance licensure requirements and RFP responses.
